Bag of the Month Club April 2020 - George - Pattern Release

Bag of the month club BOMC Carry-all George Handbag Pattern Release

Oh wow, I am so excited to get to introduce you to George, my contribution to the Bag of the Month Club for April 2020!!! I am still a little in shock that I am releasing a Bag of the Month Club pattern as I've always been a fan of the club and the designers that release for the club. I've tested for a lot of the designers and feel it's such an honor to finally be one of them!

So now let me introduce you to George! George Carry-all is a large traveler bag, whereas George Handbag is a great day-to-day purse. George is only available to members of the Bag of the Month Club, which you can still purchase until the end of April 2020! So if you're not a member, pop over and get registered at Bag of the Month Club!!! If it's after April and you're reading this, then you may need to wait a few months before this pattern is released publicly, but it will come out!

Join the Bag of the Month Club Facebook Group to join in the fun of making this pattern and to see all the different member's bags! Then join my Facebook Group to interact with the testers and myself after the end of the club - Sewing UhOh Creations Patterns.

Features

The George Carry-All is a fully structured bag with many features! The pattern includes two sizes, the Carry-all size for traveling or the Handbag size for a day out shopping. It has large front and back pockets that close with magnetic snaps, and some curvy overlays to dress it up. The shape of this bag allows it to fit comfortably against the body and the handles make it easy to carry in the crook of your elbow, regardless of which size. Inside you will find two zipper pockets and a divided slip pocket, and a super snug lining that is sewn into all the edges for a clean finish. George is designed to be made from quilting cotton, however, there are tips to doing some cork or vinyl accents with raw edges throughout the design.

Change up your George by swapping out the strap anchors for some dress hardware, or modify the pockets on the outside. Alternatively, simplify George by removing the exterior pockets and overlays for a clean front and back.

The Pattern

The pattern for the George Carry-all includes diagrams for every single step, making things clear as you move through the design and pattern pieces for all the curved pieces in both sizes. Then Isabella Sparsh did up a YouTube video so that you can sew along with her, note that there are some modifications in the video so watch carefully!

The Tester Photos

There are some awesome testers of George, I don't think I could ever pick a favorite, so let us get straight to it!!!

Cindy of Sweet Tea & Stitches did up this super fun and vibrant version!!! I love the color combination she came up with!

Cheryl of Cheryl's Quilts and Crafts was inspired to use her Nightmare Before Christmas fabric as it goes so perfectly with the shape of the top of the George bag. I love the purples and the amazing fussy cutting!!!

Abbe of Just an E (find her on IG) used some awesome and edgy Alexander Henry fabrics for this seaman version of George, this one was supposed to take a sea voyage, but with the craziness in the world right now, it's taking its own break for the meantime.

Natell of Tanglewebb Design Studio (FB and IG) did up this incredibly classy version of George Handbag - she modified some of the stabilizers so found it easier to bind the inside - it's a GREAT option if you have challenges turning bags. And she used those awesome Diamond Strap Anchors and added purse feet to this beauty!

Tara of Mooi used a mixture of fabrics from the same line, accented the front with buttons (LOVE that idea) and then used waxed canvas - it looks so fantastic!!! This Carry-all is ready for an all ladies weekend away!

Gwen of GML Designs went all out and did her handbag up in all leather, then has this sweet print for the interior! I love how classy but fun it is!!! And look at her dressing up those straps with rivets and fancy strap connectors!

Mae of Isabella Sparsh (IG here) is my video gal! She not only did up this awesome version of George, but she also did up a YouTube sew-a-long video where she slightly modified the pockets and added on the shoulder pad from the John Duffel Bag!

Line of Fine Line Designs was one of my pre-testers of the Carry-all version and she did such a fantastic job! Then she braved the weather for a couple of photos so you can all see how big this baby really is! Love how she used the Easy Connectors on this one!!!

Michelle also did a pre-test for me where she made the Carry-all and then couldn't resist doing up the handbag - and check out Buddy, she decided that this was her new bag - I love her peeking out of the bag!

Tracy of Purple KATZ Quilting always has the newest fabrics, in fact, she used a fat quarter bundle that she had from Houston Quilt Market of these fabrics from Ruby Star Society! A fat quarter bundle to make the whole Carry-all - I love it!! Then she used the Easy Connectors for her handles. She just recently received the yardage shipment of these fabrics, so contact her to get a kit put together, she loves helping you choose all the pieces!

And Sheri of MM Cork Supply and Munkee Made did up a full cork version, of course, used her pre-made handles! I love those handles! And that bright interior is so fantastic!

And last but not least, Sue Reed of Dreamscape Studio just finished up her version in this fantastic cordura print! I love that she always has her logo embroidered on every bag.... that's it in the bottom right corner, dressing up that white accent. Just love it!

Wow!!! I'm still so impressed with all the beauties my testers came up with, it's incredible to me! And an extra image of the cover bags for you so that you can see the size difference between the Carry-all and the Handbag:
