I'm incredibly excited to share with you a new pattern, the Mini Billy Backpack! This is a little tiny backpack that is designed for either a daily use purse or for that special child in your life.
At 9-1/2" tall, 8" wide, and 4-1/2" deep, you can fit the essentials in your Mini Billy Backpack for the day, but still be compact. There is a featured front zipper pocket that opens wide, an interior slip pocket, and an optional zipper between the two backpack straps, allowing you to carry it like a sling bag, or with both straps as a backpack. With two variations of the gusset, one with a straight zipper installation and one with a curvy zipper, you can make it as unique as you want.
The pattern has color diagrams that walk you through each step of the Mini Billy Backpack and a full cutting list to work off of during preparation. Pattern pieces are included for all of the shaped pieces, and rectangle measurements are provided for the straps and interior slip pocket. There are two sets of gusset measurement pieces, so you only need to print the set you want to use on your bag. Included in the purchase of your pattern, is a copy shop page, which can be sent to the printer to be printed on 24" x 36" paper so there is no taping required!
My testers have pulled together some incredible variations for you, from designer cotton fabric to leather and vinyl styles. And of course Mae of Isabella Sparsh (Instagram here) has done up an awesome video for her YouTube channel - sew along with her in your own sewing room!
And now - You're all waiting to see the awesome tester bags!!!
Michelle Graham created this fantastic version during the pre-test process:
Line Vienneau of Fine Line Designs is all ready for Halloween with her super adorable print:
Tara Van Ringen of Mooi Designs, and I hung out at a sewing retreat together to make our Mini Billy's, and she used this Happily Ever After canvas with a little raw edge applique on the gusset:
And of course Mae of Isabella Sparsh (Instagram here) didn't make just one, but she has officially made more than I have even.... and they are all out of vinyl. She also created an incredible YouTube video to show the process!!!
I can't believe all of those incredible bags - they really look amazing! And of course the cover photo for the pattern - I am so excited to share the new fabric line, Stag and Thistle, the first fabric line by fabric designer Brett Lewis of Natural Born Quilter (Instagram here). This fabric won't be available until spring, but you're not going to want to miss out on it!!! And this bag will be on display at the International Quilt Market in Houston, TX this weekend!!
